Protesters took to the streets of Portland, Ore., Sunday to participate in the Disarm PSU: No More Killer Cops rally organized by the Portland State University student union after Jason Washington, 45, was shot and killed by Portland State campus police on Friday outside of the Cheerful Tortoise, a campus sports bar.
Washington was a Navy veteran and U.S. postal worker. Witnesses told CBS News that he was attempting to break up a fight between two other men and was shot while moving to pick up a handgun that had fallen from his holster. Washington had a concealed-carry permit for the weapon.

Joey Gibson and his crew of violent bigots unfortunately are once again calling for a rally in Portland which is without fail a pretext for assorted Alt Right bullies, Nazis, homophobes, and unsavory characters to gather in hopes of brutalizing the most vulnerable people they can find.
It is very important that antifascists keep up the pressure so that we can stop them once and for all.

Three anti-fascists with decades of experiences between them will be sharing their insights into anti-fascist activism in the UK. From street brawls with the National Front in the 80s through to smashing the neo-Nazi terror outfit National Action in the 2010s, this talk will cover what was done, why it was done and what can be learned from the successes and mistakes.

Pitch a Tent highlights the diverse lived experience of unhoused and formerly unhoused people through music, testimony, interactive art and education. It calls attention to the cognitive dissonance present in city decisions that once a year allow for recreational camping along the 4.2 mile Grand Floral Parade route, while criminalizing the everyday efforts to survive of those who have no other choice but to live outside.

Call to Resist Patriot Prayer Bringing Nazis to Portland
Thu, May 24, 2018
Joey Gibson and Patriot Prayer have short memories, but our community does not. Rose City Antifa knows now, just as we did last year: Gibson is a magnet for violent white supremacists and bigots. The time between then and now has only reinforced our resolve, and the evidence of Patriot Prayer's racist ties has accumulated to undeniable quantities.
We will not allow racists and fascists to parade through Portland's streets, threatening activists and targeting at-risk communities. No matter how many times they try to sneak back in, this city will stand united against them. We ask the community to join us at 4:00 pm on June 3rd in Terry Schrunk Plaza, to show Patriot Prayer, just as we showed them last year, that their violence and hatred has no place in Portland.

In 1970, a number of baby blackfish were captured from the Salish Sea, the islanded body of water nestled into the coastlines of southern British Columbia and much of Washington State. Blackfish have language, tools, complex social organization, emotions, culture, memory. As the babies were lifted by helicopter out of the water, they and their families shrieked. To this day, the resident blackfish avoid Penn Cove because that's where their children were stolen
One blackfish stolen from L-pod in Penn Cove is still alive. She is now 51 years old, and has been held in a tiny swimming pool at the Miami Seaquarium for the past 47 years. She is a revenue stream for her owner, performing twice daily for the public. Her stage name is Lolita, though her trainers call her Toki, short for Tokitae, a Chinook name given to her when she was first captured. Lolita/Tokitae is not only alive, she is strong and healthy [...]

DIRECTIVE 650.00 SEARCH, SEIZURES AND INVENTORIES
We last commented on this Directive in October, 2014. It appears that
none of our comments led to changes in the policy, and moreover no
changes were made at all to the policy.
As such, we will simply repeat our previous comments here albeit with some fine-tuning and updates:
--One term that jumps out in the directive is the exception to searches needing warrants called "stop and frisk" (Section 2.1). While the term "frisk" is defined ("a cursory pat-down type physical search of a person), the action of a police "stop and frisk" is not.
