During winter, wind power fell by 11% and gas came to the rescue, pushing up prices to eye-watering levels. On some days the windmills produced almost zero. This is why energy prices are sky high, says Chris Morrison.

Hares forced to "perform" in appalling weather conditions over Christmas

category international | environment | opinion/analysis author Friday January 03, 2014 21:03author by Cruelty is the issue Report this post to the editors

Hare coursing can legally be held in THE WORST POSSIBLE WEATHER CONDITIONS. The cowardly politicians who refuse to legislate against it also refuse to clamp down on even this additional cruelty.

Over the festive season, hares were forced to run from salivating dogs (to be mauled and tossed about like rag-dolls) in the worst weather conditions for years...and the coursing clubs not only permitted this cruelty but are actively boasting about the fact the fans “braved” the elements to enjoy the fun! It's not enough to cruelly ill-treat these gentle creatures. The "sportspeople" must also do it in circumstances that no other sport would tolerate.

Let’ s hope 2014 sees some progress in getting this insult to the name of “sport” once and for all in Ireland.

People who are unessecarily cruel to animals are often cruel to people too. I know one woman who said her partner who went hunting for all sorts of animals used to cut up fox carcasses and was an awful abusive man who liked to drink a lot too.

He was cruel to her to and threatened her with a knife, thats when she finally got out of that abusive relationship.

People who derive pleasure from torturing an animal would not see the problem in doing it to a person either.

Yvonne...the photos you refer to have appeared on many "public domain" sites. They are well and truly all over the place on the net and freely available on pro-coursing sites.

What did you expect? I have seen your site. You have literally thousands of horrific hare coursing pics and you SUPPORT this horrific pastime via your own and other sites. When you put photographs like that out there you can expect people to pass them around, put them up on Facebook and elsewhere, and use them to expose the truth about hare coursing even if, ironically, you condone and fully endorse that discredited blood sport.

Another victim of coursing "game"...a hare is prepped to run for its life.

The photos placed on this forum where NOT all over the web. They were on my site that clearly states....".If you wish yo use these photos contact me."......WHAT DO PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTAND ABOUT THAT!

So anyone using those photos have stolen them.....FACT because not one single person has asked to use those photos.

The photo above is of a Hare being dosed for WORMS.......Worms are a natural killer of Hares.....it is not a cruel or wicked thing to dose a hare.....They benifit greatly from this treatment.

Now ill tell you this for a FACT........Photograhers have websites.......Just like Tescos have Goods on their Shelves.............Do you go and fill your pockets from Tescos.....and then say to them......."what do you expect! You put the stuff there why shouldnt I help myself?????

There is no excuse for stealing........and that is what you are doing when you take a Photographers photos from a Website that Clearly states they are Copyrighted!!
