The cat is out of the bag, says Diana Furchtgott-Roth. The vitriolic reaction to Congress?s plans to cut tax credits for renewables lays bare how 'cheap' wind and solar really are, and how subsidies are never enough.

In the last 10 years, Germany has welcomed a lot of ill-behaved young men for no discernible reason, and along the way citizens have had the dubious privilege of discovering whole new categories of crime, says Eugyppius.

Are British Muslims trying to ban dogs? It's a rumour that's been swirling for years ? and it's true that in Iran hardliners occasionally moot the idea. But in this case the rumour seems to be false, says Steven Tucker.

South County Dublin Council, Collite and Bord Failte are planning an €19 million interpretative centre on the side of the hill at Hellfire Club and plan to attract 300,000 tourists a year. There has been virtually no consultation with the public about this massive waste of taxpayers money. What we want is appropriate development of the amenities and that free public access remains. Instead there is a chance SDCC see this as a money making opportunity. We propose instead that the future of the whole sweep of the Dublin Mountains and it's access be put up for discussion with all stakeholders included and central to this is to retain it as a free amenity to the public without having to pay for access.

RTE gave some coverage to the event but what they fail to mention is that the council intend to run a mains sewer up the road to the interpretative centre rather than using a septic tank.

That might seem harmless and innocent enough but what it means in practice is that it opens up the entire mountain to housing development and I hear that large tracts of the land around were bought up during the recession at low prices by people interested in getting it rezoned for exclusive housing.

And if it happens on that hill then it becomes impossible to stop it on all the other ones.

Also not reported was the call to create a National Park across the Dublin mountains and preserve this area for access by the public instead of the real plan to divy it up amongst the elite to make a fortune out of it.
