The Indo's "Security Man" shows which way breeze is blowing

Nice little piece in the Indo by Tom Brady which shows that after building up the ridiculous hype the strategy is now to back down a little bit so as to seem more "reasonable".

Key points of this reasonableness include:
1. Trying to protect nice "Irish" protestors from nasty foreign rabble who may "exploit" them.

2. Sealing of our Phoenix Park from us so that the nasty foreign agitators can't get in and cause trouble.

3. Happy acceptance of a list of supposed "troublemakers" being passed around by some police force agency or tother that Tom Brady doesn't bother to mention by name. Who is it? INTERPOL? Or is it part of some other new data sharing agreement. Who determines who's on the list? Go find out Tommy and stop just regurgitating PR stories ya lazy hack.

4. Highlighting the fears of the Garda Representative Association that their members will be assailed by foreigners (even though the government claims to be paving the streets with armed Gardai and soldiers).

Newstalk was good this morning - funny to hear Rory defending Aileens No Borders / Grassroots Democracy stance. Good performance overall. The story got so big, then was effectively moved off the violence angle that the issues have to get space.

Of course, Gerry Ryan is on at the moment - just security so far. Still a ways to go.
