Justice for Terence Wheelock

Tuesday June 20, 2006 23:39 by Jack White - WSM
Just over a year ago, on the 2nd of June 2005 Terence Wheelock was arrested on suspicion of car theft and brought to Dublin’s Store Street Garda station. Just two hours after his arrest he was found unconscious in his cell. He entered a coma and passed away in September 2005. The Garda Press Office made a statement, claiming that Terence had tied a ligature around his neck, and secured this to a “fixture” which was “counter sunk into the wall”. However the idea that Terence had hung himself is one which has been contested by his family and which looks increasingly dubious given subsequent revelations. |

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3The level of impunity our Police force act with is frightening, time and time again they brazenly and openly act as if they have by virtue of their professional undertakens somehow risen above the reach of the law. Shame on all those members of An Garda Siochana involved in this latest travesty. My most sincere condolences to the Wheelock family, and friends of Terence. I hope you get the justice you deserve.
No offence meant - but there's no "news" in this article. All of the above info has been documented in detail on this website already, this sounds like something that's being written up for inclusion in the WSM paper but published here "first" online.
Pretty much since the start of indymedia.ie we have followed a policy of posting relevent articles here before we put them on our web site or they appear in print. This is compatable with the current editorial guidelines but if they were changed we would of course respect this. As these articles have often generated a lot of discussion and many have been turned into features on balance this appears to add to rather than detract from indymedia.
