Jordan Peterson should make his mind up about Christianity, critics say. Prof James Alexander disagrees: he's a profound Jungian explorer who wants to help a secularised world see why Christianity still matters.

Mark Zuckerberg's repudiation of Covid-era censorship is welcome. But it's not enough, say Josh Stylman and Jeffrey Tucker. Without a public reckoning they will just do it all again when a cause seems urgent enough.

Support the nurses' struggle!

category national | worker & community struggles and protests | opinion/analysis author Friday May 11, 2007 13:43author by lithium Report this post to the editors

As the battle between the HSE and the nursing unions escalates, we can all do our bit to help them!

Our nurses are out there fighting for a proper working week and pay parity, often in the wind and rain during work stoppages. Many people seem to blame the nurses for the problems at the moment, but we have to realise that it's the HSE that's the problem: they won't sort out the A&E overcrowding, MRSA infections and they expect nurses to work on substandard terms.

We can help them by showing our support. Once the public are seen to support the unions, it will send a message of assurance to the INO and PNA, and also something of a warning message to the HSE.

So why not grab a placard and visit the nurses during the work stoppages? Get yourself and few friends to the nearest affected hospital for an hour or two and raise your voices! If you'd prefer to do something right now, click on www.petitiononline.com/inopna/ and sign the Support the INO and PNA Petition.

Taking industrial action these days is a huge step for any group of worker. A very simple rule of thumb is that when it does happen the workers are in a possition that they have no alternative. In circumstances such as these any decent Trade Unionist will only have one word in mind "Solidarity". I would call on all who can to show thier bothers and sisters solidarity and offer all the support they are able to give. United we stand divided we fall.

The nurses are speaking to ordinary people who cannot access good health care.

A family member in long time stroke rehab says that now the nurses have more time
because they have cut the bureaucracy.

They are strong and deserve support, becausse they alone are standing between
a good strong health system and the thatcherism of the PD's and FG.

Support the Nurses!
Solidarity!
