The Conservatives have told Keir Starmer that "it is not far-Right to stand up for the victims" of child sexual abuse and that "smearing people who raise those issues is exactly how this got covered up in the first place".

Justin Trudeau has resigned, having lost the confidence of his party. This is bad news for Starmer and another sign electorates are fed up with radical progressive zealotry dressed up as technocratic managerialism.

Well done to TG4 for breaking Media Silence

A documentary by film-maker Brian Grey was broadcast last night on TG4 at 9.30, The Film followed the course of peace activist Mary Kelly, while most media went into silent mode for the fifth anniversary of the Invasion Of Iraq.
Mary Kelly, for those who dont know damaged, or in her words 'disarmed' a US Military plane in Shannon with an axe, and was charged with tresspass and astonishingly 'criminal damage'
The mainstream-RTE, dosent want you to know the facts about our governments disgusting recent history. But at least, this station-TG4, which gets none of the TV licence fee to pay hush money to Kenny, Ryan, Turbidy etc...broke this silence to some degree, by showing a documentary about Irish involvment in the attrocity that Iraq has become.
What seemed obvious in the film was Kellys misfortune to have gotten support from John Gormley and Trevor Seargent who now have joined the government in coalition by reneaging on the promises they were elected on-at least in part.
Coupled with the words of the author of the book 'The Widows Of Baghdad' that five years on, there are 1,200,000 dead, 500,000 widowed and 5,000,000 orphans in the wake of this proclaimed 'success', and this should be 'an example' to the rest of the middle east....one should wonder at the absurdity of our Government trying this woman three times in court for attempting to prevent this Genocide and this nations participation in the attrocity.

Always liked TG4's Fiorsceal programme. Good to see they can expose domestic corruption in Eire INC. also. This country has lost its footing completely since Mar 2003. Our government are guilty of supporting an unprovoked attack on a country disarmed twice by the UN, before they sent in the heaviest military invasion on the plannet.
Journalist Gene Kerrigan(sindo) described the acquittal of the five plowshares as the only act of sanity in this insane world, hopefully Kelly will get likewise if she gets a judge who gives a fair hearing.

Irish Media complicity in the Ireland's shameful participation in the Iraq War is a reality but is not surprising given the cynical vested interests of all concerned, including a majority of the Irish people, who disagree with the Iraq war, but do nothing about it for reasons of apathy, self interest and vested interests.

Now we are faced with the situation that the US military and the CIA have been using Shannon airport for over 5 years, inspite of real opposition during 2003, but very little real protest action at Shannon airport since the Bush visit in June 2004. The loss of Irish neutrality and the reality of ongoing US military use of Shannon has become a fait accomplii, for the worst of reasons, blood money.

Up to one million Iraqi dead, and tens of thousands of Afghan dead is a lot of blood to have on our hands.

Within the next year, the US involvement in the Iraq war will be wound down and the Shannon will only be used as a one way route for US troops going home.
It will become more difficult to justify any protests at Shannon, for who could object to bringing US troops out of Iraq?

Iraq of course will continue to disintegrate into civil war because of the US unlawful war, and the costs in Iraqi lives may eventually exceed two million dead before some semblance of order reasserts itself.
The current US inspired assault on Basra, is very likely intended to split the Iraqi people further, and especially to split the Shia people of Iraq so that the 60% Shia population will not be able to take their rightful role of the dominant political force in Iraq. This was British policy in the 1920s and is US policy in the 2008. The Iraqi Kurds, Sunni and Shia are pawns in the energy resources power games.
Ireland has also been used as one those pawns, and Bertie Ahern and his cronies pawned the Irish family silver and our international reputation and honour, for their own personal and family gain.

Within the peace movement we have only a very limited time-frame to take any action to redress these shameful developments.
Now is the time to link the militarisation of Europe, with the Iraq War, Shannon airport and the Lisbon Treaty.
We need words, actions and results at Shannon airport.

this war is an atrocity and our silent acceptance of ireland's participation in it is an atrocity. it is definite that extraordinary rendition has occured through shannon yet we acquiesce in the hope that intel and hewlet packard will remain to holD up our celtic tiger. at least if we were getting green cards for our illegals in the US as the polish are recieving for their contribution we could feel slightly mitigated.
this period in irish history will be viewed with shame, much as our treatment of the jews during the thirties is now viewed.....we are reneging on our neutrality. WE HAVE SOLD HUMAN RIGHTS FOR THIRTY PIECES OF SILVER....

Time to start doing something about what is happening at Shannon

I believe there is a vigil to be held each monday from 5.30 till 6.30 outside the gpo.

How more Ironic can it get ,. the birth place where this state was born, fought for and won from 800 years of tyrany for the 26 at least, is now a place of vigil in opposition of this same states participation in everything that used to abhore us.
I agree with previous poster drawing parallells with the Jewish genocide and our participation in this one. I have long called Ireland 'Paracite Facist Nation' because we dont even live up to the name of 'Facist Ireland'....were worse.

I agree re the screening of the programme. Well done to TnaG.
It shed great light on the lead up to the cases etc and was very
well done presenting Mary's case .

Two items though caused me concern.

Didn't Scott Ritter state that technically the judge was right?
I was confused by this statement?

I was also interested to know more re the lead up to the incident.
Was it spur of the moment or planned?

Good Work
