Jordan Peterson should make his mind up about Christianity, critics say. Prof James Alexander disagrees: he's a profound Jungian explorer who wants to help a secularised world see why Christianity still matters.

Mark Zuckerberg's repudiation of Covid-era censorship is welcome. But it's not enough, say Josh Stylman and Jeffrey Tucker. Without a public reckoning they will just do it all again when a cause seems urgent enough.

Former 26-County Prime Minister Bertie Ahern’s comments that the unity of Ireland should not come about once a majority in the Six Counties favours it represents a shift away from their previously stated position, a spokesperson for Republican Sinn Féin said today.

Former 26-County Prime Minister Bertie Ahern’s comments that the unity of Ireland should not come about once a majority in the Six Counties favours it represents a shift away from their previously stated position, a spokesperson for Republican Sinn Féin said today.

“Whilst the Provos have attempted to rebrand the Unionist veto as the ‘principle of consent’, it is clear that the major players in the negotiating of the Stormont Agreement do not envisage an end to partition until a majority of present-day Unionists cease to support the political union with Britain.

“The continuation of English rule in Ireland is a denial of the democratically expressed wishes of the people of Ireland.

“Éire Nua offers the former Unionists a real say in the governance of the country, without any foreign interference in Irish affairs.”

If Ireland was unified without Unionist on board we would witness a repeat of the 30 years of armed struggle in Northern Ireland, this time with the Irish Army and Gardai under attack from a loyalist and unionist insurgency and bloody conflict between loyalists and nationalists communities and bombing campaigns in Dublin by loyalist separatists.

Democracy must be respected, and as soon as there is a majority in favour of unification, unification must take place. Fear of violence should not be put in the way.

It will then be up to us all to show that we can create and sustain an Ireland of equals.
