Great Crack, Ceol, Support and Turnout For Maura Harrington On a blustery, cold and damp Friday evening, it was obvious that the shell2sea campaign is alive and well and as strong as ever. A big crowd turned up for the vigil/seisún outside Mountjoy Woman's Prison. The support of passing traffic and pedestrians was very evident by the car horns and well wishers and shouts of "Maura Maura" and "good luck" as well as the many expressions of outrage that she is still in prison. A couple of local men even showd up with a large box of hot chips from the local chipper up the road. Unfortunately I had to leave early to try and get media attenton with some of these images, (I missed the fiddles and dancing etc ) but every time I rang back to the vigil, the music and very lively atmosphere came through loud and clear. |

Many thanks to all who took part, & have supported the cause for so long. It shows that there is still spirit, conscience, & backbone in Ireland; alas, that there is so little in the Dáil now.
a tiny bit of music from the evening

The video is scenes from last nights protest and the one two Saturdays back with Finbarrs song about the Solitaire as performed last night dubbed over the video
The audio recorded last night is an instrumental followed by Brid singing 'The Foggy Dew' and then Finbarr again.

Finbarr's (Finbarr who?) 'Glengad Strand' song is great - is that what it's called?
Could be "Something Inside So Strong" by Labi Siffre. Or could be paraphrased to "Someone Inside So Strong"........love to Maura & you all.
Looks like you had a great night outside Shell's Lock-up, and well done for putting it together and going through with it in what wasn't the best of weather for an 'oíche spraoi faoin spéir'. That's the Glengad Spirit, don't you know, and I wouldn't doubt yiz! I'd have loved to have been there in hindsight, but I have put in a lot of travel miles lately so I ducked out this time. Let's organise a big to-do for when she gets out, either in Dublin or Erris (why not both?!) and give Shell and their governmental henchpersons yet another PR black eye! Keep sending the letters, postcards, magazines, etc. to Maura, and let's keep shining the light on Ireland's biggest corruption scandal of all - the Great Gas Robbery. Love, respect, solidarity, and I'll see you all very soon!
Another lenghty Politube video to follow covering the Shell to Sea protest at the Norwegian Embassy last Thursday.

Lulu, Finbarr can be seen singing his song on the last video.
Sure, it's a great song - I would like more info if possible, to publicise it on our 'Songs of Conscience' discussion.
