Local food

category galway | consumer issues | other press author Sunday July 18, 2010 14:31author by gníomhaí Report this post to the editors

If you're based in Galway come and get good local food from the veg garden in Woodlands, Renmore
(beside Brothers of Charity and Gaelscoil Dara)

What with the combination of hot weather and plenty of rain, everything in the vegetable garden is flourishing!
As I write (18th of July 2010) we have cucumbers, courgettes, broad beans, runner beans, mange tout peas, lettuce, cabbage, brocolli, chard, fennel bulbs, beetroot, parsley, basil, spinach, marrows. Soon we'll have tomatoes, onions, potatoes and cauliflowers.

So stop shopping in Tescos and other big multiples who are strangling the farmers and importing veg from Israel and start shopping local!
