The Lisbon Treaty was rejected by Irish voters last year, amidst the backdrop of an inept Government, a No campaign run by vested interests and a general level of ignorance as regards content of the Treaty. These are the reasons why we should vote Yes, why we shouldn't trust No campaigners and how the Lisbon Treaty is our ticket to a more transparent and democratic Europe, with Ireland at the centre of a stronger EU. read full story / add a comment

After being rejected by France and Holland, then renamed to take them out of the equation, then rejected by the Irish. When is the 2nd round taking place for Ireland? The relentless drive to agglomerate control within a revamped European Union has lost none of its force, despite being pronounced clinically dead by the Irish people on June 12th in a referendum it's government could not avoid hosting. Dead set on simply ignoring the will of the people as demonstrated clearly in resounding No votes in France, Holland and Ireland, the Eurocracy continues to scheme hell-bent on manipulating its desired outcome. June 12th was a victory of the people over profit, but the battle has only just begun. Will democracy prevail? Or will that historic 'No' vote prove to be democracy's last gasp? Make no mistake: whatever you understand 'democracy' to be, it is at stake here. But here's the rub: there are some amongst us who invert 'democracy' and all nominally social ideals into their corrupted opposites. Why is that? Are we not all singing from the same hymn-sheet? The letter below was sent recently today to all Irish Deputies (MPs) and Senators in connection with the proposal to re-run the Lisbon Referendum in order to get a different result. It is accompanied by copies of the two submissions made to the Oireachtas (the Irish National Parliament) Sub-Committee on Ireland's Future in the EU by Anthony Coughlan on behalf of the National Platform Research and Information Centre, of which Coughlan is Secretary. read full story / add a comment

Interesting head to head poll in the Times today- Mary Lou McDonald explains that is the same dinner, warmed up and stuck on a different plate, while Dick Roche tries to tell us that all Irish concerns have been met. But we didn't vote just as self-interested Irish people Dick, we voted as good Europeans.
