Given the expectation that the public must accept what restrictions the State imposes, the basis of these decisions are not the exclusive preserve of experts and advisers or even of elected officials. None of these officials was elected with the prospect of severe restriction of personal liberty in view. Yet this power has been arrogated by these officials on the basis of advice of a dire public health emergency, the predictions of which proved wholly exaggerated. It is insufficient at this stage to claim “emergency.” The emergency has passed. The harm has proved far less than advertised. Deaths are few. Yet “recommendations” are still being promulgated, and severe restrictions are again being proposed. read full story / add a comment
Australian Politician Calls for Criminal Trials of Health Bureaucrats who Banned Hydroxychloroquine as COVID Cure
An Austrialian MP Craig Kelly in an interview on Sky News Australia has said that medical bureaucrats “violated the very first principle of the hypocritic oath” which is to ‘do no harm’ and engated in engaged in crimes against humanity and they should be taken to the criminal court in the Hague for the role in banning the use of hydroxychloroquine based on faulty evidence and that recent studies show there is no proposition to keep that ban in place. read full story / add a comment
IMF head Kristalina Georgieva warned that developing countries could face a second wave of economic crises just as they are recovering from the coronavirus pandemic. "... There is a need to reform the international debt 'architecture' ... to provide speedy and sufficiently deep debt relief to countries that need it, benefitting not only these countries but the system as a whole," wrote Georgieva and other top IMF officials in a Fund blog published Thursday. read full story / add a comment
Call on Minister to control private companies as Bord Na Mona quits peat bedding sector
Action comes two years after environmental complaint
Two years after calling on the Minister for Agriculture, Michael Creed, to exercise his powers under the legislation to stop Teagasc, the Farm Advisory Service, and Bord na Mona from promoting the use of deep peat for bedding in animal housing, Bord na Mona has announced that it is exiting the peat bedding market.
The extent of the practice came to light on field trips conducted by Friends of the Irish Environment in the summer of 2018. It coincided with Bord na Mona and Teagasc beginning to market peat as an alternative to straw after the poor harvests led to shortages of straw. The company entered the market in 2017, having reportedly appointed a team to manage sales and grow the market in the wake of reduced use of peat for power generation.read full story / add a comment

The current debacle in education over Leaving Cert results is a stark example of lack of thought about the fundamentals of human rights. Should high marks in an exam entitle one child to a place in some coveted university course while denying it to another child who has lower marks. Put another way does high intelligence give a student more entitlements. read full story / add a comment

Remember all the hospitals apparently bombed by Assad in Syria. If you were a keen observer you would have counted at least 100. I doubt there is that many hospitals in the whole country. Well it was all Western propaganda. Today a series of leaks shows how Western powers acted as the PR front for the terrorists and "rebels" in Syria. The West was actually backing ISIS. Yes, ISIS the head chopping terrorist group. One has to wonder about all the ISIS / Terrorist attacks in Europe, if the same powers have been backing them in Syria. Is their a link. That has to be. This report comes from zero hedge regarding the main leak of documents linking the Western governments running of the successful disinformation campaign. Ever wonder why when Russia entered Syria they managed to destroy over 1200 ISIS oil tanker trucks in a few nights and slash their fund raising in the process whilst up to down with all the satellites, drones, electronic surveillance and everything else, the US and NATO forces could not find them. And how the media used to talk of ISIS being unstoppable. They are unstoppable when you support them and do nothing to stop them. read full story / add a comment
Open letter from medical doctors and health professionals to all Belgian authorities and all Belgian media.
international / health / disability issues / news report Saturday September 26, 2020 23:55 by 1 of indy
This was originally published on Sept 5th and is republished in full here. Source link given below. So far it has been signed by 394 medical doctors, 1,340 medically trained health professionals.
We, Belgian doctors and health professionals, wish to express our serious concern about the evolution of the situation in the recent months surrounding the outbreak of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. We call on politicians to be independently and critically informed in the decision-making process and in the compulsory implementation of corona-measures. We ask for an open debate, where all experts are represented without any form of censorship. After the initial panic surrounding covid-19, the objective facts now show a completely different picture – there is no medical justification for any emergency policy anymore.
The current crisis management has become totally disproportionate and causes more damage than it does any good.
We call for an end to all measures and ask for an immediate restoration of our normal democratic governance and legal structures and of all our civil liberties. read full story / add a comment

It has been revealed that the UK's chief scientific advisor who also chairs the government’s expert advisory panel on vaccines has according to reports (in the Telegraph) has over 43,000 shares in GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) – a multinational pharmaceutical company. The shares are estimated to be worth £600,000
This is the same person who is pushing for the vaccine and currently promoting fear around the current rise in "cases" trying to imply there is a second wave when these are just detections and not cases of where people previously had Covid and other related diseasesread full story / add a comment

Snowden warns that Assange extradition will lead free press to slaughterhouse as publisher’s critics blinded by partisanship
international / rights, freedoms and repression / other press Sunday September 20, 2020 19:50 by 1 of indy 1 video file
The US drive to extradite and prosecute Julian Assange poses a grave threat to journalists everywhere, but the publisher’s opponents have placed politics over principle, and even their own interests, said whistleblower Ed Snowden.
Due to the success of the smear campaign against Assange over the years Snowden has to speak defensively of him as per quotes below
“I think a lot of it comes down to people forgetting what principles are and why they're important,” Snowden said in an interview with Joe Rogan on Tuesday. “You can hate Julian Assange, you can think he's a puppet of Russia, you can think he's the worst person on Earth – a reincarnation of Hitler or Stalin – and still realize that convicting him harms you.”read full story / add a comment
