To coincide with US President Donald Trump’s visit to Ireland, protests will be held at Shannon Airport starting at 3pm on June 5th. The US President is expected to land at Shannon that day, to fly out and back again on June 6th, and to leave on June 7th. A Peace Camp will be set up outside the airport for the duration of his visit, including overnight on the 5th and 6th June, and people are invited to spend whatever time they can there in order to maintain an ongoing protest against his presence in Ireland. read full story / add a comment

A group of women known as the Raging Grannies will hold a Day of Mourning at Shannon Airport on March 8th, International Women's Day, starting at 11am. In doing so they will draw attention to the fact that the airport has been complicit in deaths all across the Middle East, with US troops passing through practically every day of the week. read full story / add a comment

This is a big event for us and everyone is invited, if you have any spare seeds bring them along too for everyone to share. Victory Clare County Council voted to reject the TTIP( Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership) on Mon 8 feb. It’s official – Clare is now Ireland’s first TTIP Free Zone! Monday night was a milestone moment in our fight to stop the toxic deal TTIP. Shannonwatch are inviting groups and individuals from around Ireland to join them in organising a series of peace events at Shannon Airport on the weekend of October 11th and 12th. The main event of the weekend will be a public demonstration on Sunday 12th at 2pm, calling for an end to the US military use of the airport. The event is being co-organised and supported by a large number of groups including Shannonwatch, Galway Alliance Against War, the Peace and Neutrality Alliance (PANA), the Irish Anti-War Movement (IAWM), Afri, and the Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC). Bus transport is being arranged from Dublin on Sunday 12th and as a result a large turnout is expected (contact details for the bus are given below). read full story / add a comment

On Sunday, September 21st, just days before a landmark climate summit at the UN, Avaaz members around the world are taking part in a People's Climate March. World leaders don’t believe enough of us care about climate change, that’s why they’re still not yet rising to the challenge of saving our planet. But on September 21, we have an unprecedented chance to prove them wrong, with the largest climate mobilisation in history. We're joining with the Burrenbeo Conservation Volunteers who are organising a cleanup on the day. Rtd Commandant Edward Horgan has just been in contact. After a vigil today at Shannon, which was specially to mark the 10th anniversary of the peaceful act of sabotage on a US warplane by the catholic ploughshares people, there was evidence of a lot of Irish military activity at the airport. read full story / add a comment
