The first events of the year will include a Peace Camp commemoration on Jan 6th, followed by the regular monthly vigil on Jan 11th. Monitoring of known torture/rendition planes and military flights will also continue in 2009 as part of the ongoing efforts to end Irish complicity in war and illegal trafficking of prisoners. read full story / add a comment

Pat Breen, Fine Gael TD from Bunratty, showed that he's been listening to the lies about natural resources, and he believes them, when he spoke about Corrib in the Dáil. The sad thing is that his acceptance of the nonsense peddled by Shell and the Green Party means that instead of an opposition testing and challenging the government we have a docile and pointless group of placemen waiting for a chance to get into government simply to get a few things for their constituents and jobs for their friends. read full story / add a comment

A relaxed yet determined crowd gathered at the monthly vigil in Shannon this Sunday evening to protest against the ongoing use of the airport by the US military and CIA. Not surprisingly there was an unidentified aircraft sitting on the airport tarmac at the time. And also not surprisingly, the Gardai were determined to stop any of the concerned vigil attendees from identifying it. read full story / add a comment
